Istanbul, Haliç | Golden Horn
Location
İstanbul, Beyoğlu | Golden Horn
Based on the existing topographic values of the land stretching from Imrahor Street to the Golden Horn, the designed project required a street volume in accordance with the benefits of level differences. The design criteria prioritized producing a contemporary and environmentally friendly structure under the principles of sustainability. In the context of utilizing renewable resources, a wooden structural system was chosen.
The street space, functioning according to the needs of the marketplace, also forms a courtyard expression. This space accommodates users who want direct access to the recreational areas and partially overlooks the view of the Golden Horn. The project, aiming to establish a connection and transition between the Golden Horn and the street, has a total of 2000 m² of enclosed volume.

Sustainability, natural materials, contemporary construction techniques.

The structure, designed with structural laminated timber elements and connected by structural laminated timber beams, is the result of the idea of creating a sustainable building.
The foundation of the system, designed with structural laminated timber (glulam) bearers and connected structural laminated timber beams, is based on the reinforced concrete structural system in the basement of the building.
Metal connectors are used at the connection points of the vertical, beam, and floor elements of the structural laminated timber bearers, which are assembled on the reinforced concrete basement floor constructed on a concrete raft foundation applied underground.
